§ Dramatis
Personae Nick (m), 35, patient; Troy (m), 25, Nick’s nephew; Uncle Al
(m), 50, Nick’s uncle; Doris (f), 38, Nick’s sister.
§ Synopsis
“Surrounded by some bizarre family members, Nick lies unconscious in his hospital
bed. He’s been in a coma for several months—all the while listening and fuming,
as his family reviews his life and his many shortcomings. Talking directly
to the audience, Nick gives his hilarious side of the story.
§ Comment
“Everything leads to a funny, surprise ending. • One scene. Only
a bed/long table is needed. The cast is casually dressed, except for the
patient. He must be in a hospital gown. • This play was done
in New York regional theatre and was very well received. It is a real showcase
for comedic acting.”
§ Themes
family, hospital.
