§ Dramatis Personae Christian (m), pious, deprived of satisfaction of his instincts; Dick the Lion (m), adult, leader of his pride; Samantha/Tigeress (f), (28), human temptress/animal manifestation; Lioness (f), companion of Dick.

§ Synopsis “Christian is ending a parish party. He turns around to find the mysterious Samantha, who proceeds to not only question his morals, but also attempts to seduce him. Chris denies her, despite the foreign stirrings within him. She is offended and doesn't accept his religious reasons, arguing that his reasons will have to stand up to the laws of nature. She leaves. Chris goes to bed. The following morning, he wakes up in the jungle, now a tiger. He is very confused, even more so when he meets Dick and Lioness. From there, Chris is witness to many actions of the lions that go against his morals. He attempts to explain God and their wrongful ways. Pride, gluttony, and slothfulness quickly come into the conversation; they are easily dismissed as natural traits. Tigeress appears, caught by Dick. She is Samantha in disguise. Dick wants Samantha. Chris is coming around about his instincts, and realizes he himself wants Samantha. He envies Dick his women. Lust and Anger are addressed, as Chris fights and kills Dick to get Samantha. After the Dick’s death, Chris and Tigeress sleep together, and Chris wakes up at home. Chris holds another party soon after, this one much more swank. He invites Samantha to move with him to Las Vegas. She happily obliges and they kiss in ultimate bliss.

§ Comment “Five scenes, each roughly 6-8 pages. Two settings—Scenes 1 and 5 in Chris' living room, Scenes 2-4 in the jungle. A simple nature setting will do—a couple plants, backdrop, stone for Dick to lounge on. • Premiered at Palm Beach Community College, January, 2004. • “Patricia E. Perry, '93, Saint Peters, MO, has been promoted to project manager in the client/server department at Magellan Behavioral Health, Maryland Heights, MO.”—Alumnus Magazine, November 1999, Nov Magazine,, accessed December 8, 2003.
