Synopsis “A man attempts to sell some fairly ordinary paintings. A madman arrives and disrupts his efforts. The man fails to sell any paintings.

Comment “The play poignantly explores themes relating to art and self-expression and ideas of self worth. Probably requires someone to create some pretty bad paintings to fit the descriptions within the text. Other than that staging is simple: all of the action in the one place. The roles are all reasonably meaty. The central figure has several long monologues and quite a bit of emotional ground. The female character, open to interpretation, provides more challenge in the area of characterisation. The smaller male part would be a fun cameo for someone whose forté is hammy ‘Shakespearean’ acting. Written in 1991, first published on the Web in 1995.”
