§ Dramatis Personae John (m), 25, aspiring writer; Maureen (f), 25, _____; Domonique (f), 25, _____; Pam (f), 25, _____.

§ Synopsis “An apparent rape is, in affect, a couple trying to consummate their relationship, albeit unsuccessfully. Consequently, the young man has sex with various glamour models in a seedy studio that he owns. An old teacher visits him in a dream and encourages him to go to college and become a writer. One of the models he encounters is a drug addict, which quickly leads him to become addicted to heroin. His mixed feelings about his own sexuality (cross-dressing) complicate his guilt. He overdoses and dies.

§ Comment “A young man declines into drug addiction, destroying his dreams of reaching his full potential. • Two onstage locales crossfade from one to the other. • Premiered by The Lion & Unicorn Theatre, Kentish Town, London, in 2003, and ran for one week. • Research could include John Collings’ one-act musical Mary (Woolston, Warrington, Cheshire, England: New Theatre Publications, 2001), ISBN 1840942592, 31 pp., 4m3f (+ extras). • “Theatrical Experience/Training: Have attended various workshops for several years on play writing, screen writing and lyric writing. Produced and directed first play ‘Kelly & Donald’ at a London Fringe Theatre. Written a short play entitled the ‘Writer’. Wrote a book and the lyrics for a play entitled ‘Mary’. In 1999 co-founded a Community Arts group for Havering called ‘Second Chance’. Writing and producing issue based plays. Co-writing an environmental play/screenplay entitled ‘Wally Waster & The Clean Up Fairy’. Turning the screenplay into a video, which I directed. Also recently I have had my first play ‘Kelly & Donald’ adapted and produced by MIND as part of their ‘Mental Health Wheel’ raising awareness of mental health issues. Interested in any work offered. Like writing plays and lyrics for songs.”—A young man declines into drug addiction, destroying his dreams of reaching his full potential.
