  §  Dramatis Personae Mr Brown (m), 40, a strangely-dressed shopper; Agnes (f), 35, short, mousy; Winnie (f), 35, short, mousy; Cath (f), 23, blond and bouncy;

  §  Synopsis “A midnight superstore, similar to Tesco. Three cashiers are at their tills holding boring conversations. At midnight, a strangely-dressed person enters and buys some very weird items. This happens on several occasions, then millions of these people come in all together and buy items are things like cat food, baby cotten buds, tins of industrial jam, Sanex body wash, etc. Mr Brown wears an Elvis pendent and dresses a bit like Sybil Fawlty gone mad. The extras may be men or women—it doesn’t make a diffence, as they never speak.

  §  Comment “Staging is quite easy, requiring only tills, a few magazine stands, trolleys and whatnot. Ask a supermarket to sponsor the show—they are often very happy to do that. The extras are weird people; for these nonspeaking roles, just get a load of people who are happy to be made up. You need at least six at least for this to work.

  §  Themes boredom, Lynch quality, shopping, Twin Peaks style.
