§ Dramatis Personae Rich (m), 32, just out of the military; Helen (f), 32, teacher, formerly dated Rich; Julie (f), 35, nurse, Helen's partner.

§ Synopsis “Helen invites her old lover Rich to dinner at a crabhouse in Baltimore. They haven't seen each other in ten years, since he joined the Army after Helen broke up with him. They skirt around their painful history. Rich thinks Helen is trying to get back together with him. He finally realizes when Helen's girlfriend Julie shows up that he's being asked to father their child. He agrees.

§ Comment “Premiered February, 2004, by En Avant Playwrights (New York City) as part of its Strange Change evening; • produced at Turnip Theater Festival (New York City) April 2004; • selected for MaeWest Festival, Seattle, July, 2004; • staged reading by Theater OUTLanta, October, 2004. 1 set, no scene changes. Realistic plastic crabs can be obtained from many novelty vendors, such as Oriental Trading Company. • Kathleen Warnock’s full-length plays include To the Top (winner, South Carolina Playwrights Festival); Grieving for Genevieve and The Audience. Kathleen won the John Golden Award for ‘Grieving for Genevieve.’ She is a member of the Dramatists Guild.
