§ Dramatis Personae Joey (m), 25, a confused fellow; Sue (f), 35, his girlfriend.

§ Synopsis “One warring couple. In the first piece, Joey tries to explain to his girlfriend how he screwed up their relationship, with hilarious and disturbing results. Now, seven years later, Sue decides to end things and walk out, only to realize that freedom may have come at too high a price.

§ Comment “Two related monologues, ‘Elmo On The Half Shell’ and ‘Jello Shot.’ • A coat rack, table and chairs. • Produced by Black Dog Theatre, District of Columbia, U.S.A., 2000. Funded by a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts.”—One-Act SOP, http://www.christopherwall.org/one-acts1.htm, accessed July 27, 2004. • “My plays are organized into full-lengths, one-acts, and ten-minutes. I've included a plot summary, the cast and production requirements, and a script history. Everything here has been produced or published, or both. I pulled a monologue from each play to give you a sense of my writing. You're welcome to use them to audition. If you like what you see, contact me and I'll e-mail the script to you. I started writing comic essays to amuse my friends and make it through yet another workday in a basement cubicle. A more serious piece is forthcoming in The Saint Ann's Review. I currently teach expository writing at New York University, where I'm getting an MFA in dramatic writing. I have a BA from Dartmouth and an MA in Creative Writing from Boston University.”— Christopher Wall, June 9, 2004.”—About, http://www.christopherwall.org/resume.htm, accessed July 27, 2004.

§ Themes courtship, price of freedom.
