§ Dramatis
Personae Eli (m), not a spring chicken, devoted husband; Sura (f), not
a spring chicken, devoted wife, closet kleptomaniac.
§ Synopsis
“Eli and Sura are always together. Today, however, Eli is trying to go
out without his wife. He has a lump on his nose that the doctor suspects
is cancer, but he doesn’t want to reveal this to Sura because she will
be terribly upset. He is supposed to go to the hospital this morning, but
Sura is suspicious. Also, she is positive that if he leaves her alone she
will go out and steal something. Finally, he gives in and tells her why
he has to go. In a reversal, she insists that he leave—and quickly. He
says, no, he’ll stay. She pushes him out the door, determined to conquer
her own demons in order to save her husband.
§ Comment
“One scene. Unit set composed of only a kitchen table with place settings.
Special requirements: a fake fried egg. • ‘Roses to Plan’ has
been performed frequently and has won a number of awards.”
