§ Dramatis Personae Husband (m), 50, a successful doctor, next in line to be the chief of staff at the hospital where he is on staff; Wife (f), 45, gave up her career to help her husband through medical school and has grown to resent his neglect of her.

§ Synopsis “Immediately following a party Husband and Wife have hosted, Wife, alone, nervously pours a mysterious liquid into several of the bottles on the liquor table. When Husband enters and realizes that Wife is trying to poison him, he says nothing, but a game of cat and mouse begins as Husband and Wife confront one another about their marital grievances.

§ Comment “The twist ending obscures who has really won. • One scene, simple set. • ‘Poisoned’ premiered at the Chapel Street Playhouse, 27 North Chapel Street, Newark, Delaware, U.S.A., in January, 2001, in a production by the Chapel Street Players, P.O.
