§ Dramatis Personae Brendan (m), 30, fiancé; Caroline (f), 30, fiancée.

§ Synopsis “On their fifth anniversary, Caroline and Brendan visit the place where they met: San Francisco’s Land’s End, a picturesque precipice overlooking the Bay. Just as Brendan’s about the pop the question, Caroline reveals that when she crept up behind him on that night five years ago, she’d really intended to push him off. A funny perspective on leaps of faith.

§ Comment “Set can be very spare. A staged reading used two chairs for the 'railing' of the fence surrounding Land’s End, and it worked quite well. Only prop requirements are a backpack and jewelry box. • Jody Handley's most recently staged work was ‘Subjects,’ produced by the Unidentified Theatre Company as part of the 2003 Bay Area One Acts Festival. Unidentified also produced ‘To Engage in Mutual Touching or Caressing of the Lips’ in March, 2002. In the Playwrights’ Center of San Francisco’s 2001 DramaRama, ‘To Engage . . .’ beat out finalist ‘Subjects’ to win the short play competition. Other credits include ‘Land's End’ in the Playwrights' Center's Sheherezade 2004, ‘All's Fair’ in Three Wise Monkeys' Overnighters Play-in-a-Day marathon, ‘A Midsummer Night’s Real World for Daytrippers’ Play-In-A-Day Marathon and ‘Lucky Penny’ in Three Wise Monkeys’ Short Leaps.”

§ Themes love, marriage, engagement, secrets, cliffs, hiking, meet, anniversary.
