§ Dramatis Personae Man (m),

§ Synopsis “Two characters
engage in conversation, but with imaginary characters other than themselves.
They are quiet adamant in this so-called conversation, and suddenly, at
one point, their conversations intersect. They realize they know each other
from somewhere, and that somewhere is Canton, Ohio. The woman was part
of the ‘Flying Medusas,’ an all-female group of stunt pilots. It becomes
apparent that perhaps there was a romance between them, or hints of same.
And they go off to have a beer, but not before activating a cassette recorder
that plays back moments from the wonder years of the Medusas.
§ Comment “Unit set. Armchair,
side table, cassette player. • With ‘A Public Service Announcement’
I began writing simple, two-character surrealist farces, where the dialogue
almost becomes its own little poetry, or I suppose that’s one way of looking
at it. God only really knows what ‘The Flying Medusas’ is really getting
at. Still, I’m convinced it will hold an audience. One of these days, we’ll
see.”
