Synopsis "A man is alone in space, the sole passenger on a spacecraft after a disaster has obliterated Earth. He struggles to keep his hope and sanity alive by recording weekly journals into his ship's computerized log. Another ship suddenly makes contact with him; initially, he is elated, but with less than five minutes to fire his rockets and link up with the ship before his opportunity is lost forever, his fears mount: what do they want from him, do they mean him harm, are they human? He is forced to choose between the possibility of human contact, with its joys and dangers, or being alone and safe. He chooses the latter and dooms himself to isolation."

Themes choice, computer, fear, solitude, space travel.
