§ Dramatis Persona Fizz (f), 20, a young, enthusiastic girl who really enjoys her work as a toothbrush.
§ Synopsis “A toothbrush is personified as a young girl called Fizz, who describes her life and work in a bathroom. Fizz is very enthusiastic especially about Dean (the dental floss). She is anxious and reveals that she was molested by Bruce (another toothbrush) the previous evening. Fizz is very shaken by the incident and was hoping that Dean would save her—but he didn’t.
§ Comment “The monologue is easily staged because there is absolutely no set or props. The piece would make a good audition piece for a young female performer. • Premiered in Crewe, England, 1997—well received by the audience.
§ Themes aspiration, colleague-colleague relationship, personal space, romantic passion, sexual harassment, work enjoyment.
