May 19, 1997; Eisenstein says,
§ Dramatis
Persona Agnes (f), a woman with a mission, whose eyes
glint with it.
§ Synopsis
“Agnes
is convinced that television is literally infested with devils. In her
comic lecture-demonstration, she details ways of minimizing their infernal
powers and their ability to "suck out your brain right through your eyeballs."
§ Comment
“An
onstage TV/video, with relentless channel-surfing, can enhance the presentation,
but it is not necessary. 'Devils' premiered at Total Theatre, Inc., Columbus,
Ohio, U.S.A. It has received readings at the Cleveland Play House and Cleveland
State University, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. . . . NOTE: Production of 'Devils'
requires permission from the playwright and a royalty.”
§ Themes
devil, lecture, sanity, television.
