Eisenstein, Linda (American playwright, 1950-____), Devils,

a 10-minute comic monolog in English about how to avoid the demons flying out of your TV,

© 1996 by Linda Eisenstein, in Linda Eisenstein's anthology Bad Grrrls (Cleveland, Ohio: Herone Press, 1996);    scripts/rights available from Linda Eisenstein via e-mail herone@en.com or http://www.lindaeisenstein.com or via regular mail, Herone Press, P. O. Box 749, Cleveland, Ohio 44107-0749, U.S.A., voice/fax 216-631-5812. Cited by Linda Eisenstein via e-mail herone@en.com May 19, 1997; Eisenstein says,

§  Dramatis Persona Agnes (f), a woman with a mission, whose eyes glint with it.

§  Synopsis Agnes is convinced that television is literally infested with devils. In her comic lecture-demonstration, she details ways of minimizing their infernal powers and their ability to "suck out your brain right through your eyeballs."

§  Comment An onstage TV/video, with relentless channel-surfing, can enhance the presentation, but it is not necessary. 'Devils' premiered at Total Theatre, Inc., Columbus, Ohio, U.S.A. It has received readings at the Cleveland Play House and Cleveland State University, Cleveland, Ohio, U.S.A. . . . NOTE: Production of 'Devils' requires permission from the playwright and a royalty.

§  Themes devil, lecture, sanity, television.
